THRASH-BACK 2013!!

So Thrashers,

das Jahr neigt sich wieder dem Ende... Wahnsinn wie die Zeit vergeht. Kommt mir so vor, als hätte ich gerade gestern noch das Jahr 2012 revue passieren lassen. Und alter Schwede was war das ein Jahr für uns Thrasher. Keine, aber absolut keine Wünsche wurden übrig gelassen. Schweren Herzens entscheide ich mich nun mal für meine absoluten Top 5:



OK, Platz 5 belegt bei mir eine Band, wie soll es auch sein aus dem Süden Europas. ULTRA-VIOLENCE aus Italien veröffentlichten ihren ersten Longplayer "PRIVILEGE TO OVERCOME" und der holzt dermaßen rein. Überragender Sound, geile Riffs, sollte in 2013 in keinem THRASH-Regal fehlen. Also noch eine sehr junge Band, von der wir in Zukunft sicher das Ein oder Andere Schmankerl erwarten dürfen.

Ultra-Violence - Privilege To Overcome

Platz 4 kommt ebenfalls aus dem Süden, jedoch aus dem Süden Amerikas. VIOLATOR brachten für mich dieses Jahr wohl mit ihr bestes Album "SCENARIOS OF BRUTALITY" raus. Im Januar 2014 kommt diese geniale Platte auch endlich als Vinyl-Pressung raus.

Violator - Scenarios Of Brutality

Platz 3 und nur eine haaresbreite an 2 vorbeigeschrammelt das neue Meisterwerk von EVILE "SKULL". Nach ihrem Debut "Enter the Grave" für mich das beste Album, was Evile veröffentlicht hat. Die Songs sind etwas eingängiger und ich finde, Matt hat am Gesang nochmal ne ganze Schippe drauf gelegt. Absolut geniales Teil und jedem der die Band spätestens nach Five Serpents Teeth abgeschrieben hat, empfehle ich hier mal ein Ohr reinzuhängen.

Evile - Skull

Platz 2 nicht nur aufgrund des brutalen Sounds, sondern vor allem wegen dem übertriebenen Drumming geht an die Thrasher aus Denver HAVOK. Mit "UNNATURAL SELECTION" finde ich, haben Sie sogar ihr 2tes Release "Time Is Up" minimal übertroffen. Wobei "Time Is Up" schon ein wahnsinns Album ist... Also echt ziemlich schwer da ne konkrete Aussage zu treffen. Im Februar, wird dieses Meisterwerk auf Vinyl erscheinen. Zusammen mit ihrem Debut "Burn", welches für mein Geschmack die bis dato besten Solis beinhaltet.

Havok - Unnatural Selection

Platz 1 geht unangefochten an die Newcomer des Jahres. Und die stammen aus Finnland. An LOST SOCIETY dürfte dieses Jahr wohl keiner vorbei kommen. Mit ihrem Erstlingswerk "FAST LOUD DEATH" dürften LS wohl alle Recorde brechen. Zurzeit sprießen auf Facebook Chapter Sites aus aller Herrenländer wie Unkraut aus dem Boden. Kein Wunder, denn diese junge frische Härte, die dieses Album so auszeichnet vermisst man leider viel zu häufig bei Neuerscheinungen. Das zweite Album ist bereits im Kasten und ich kann es kauf erwarten das neue Material zu hören. Selbst sehe ich die Jungs im Januar zum ersten Mal live. Kanns kaum erwarten zu Hymnen wie "E.a.G., Braindead Metalhead, Bitch, Get Out' My Way oder Piss Out My Ass" abzumoshen. ;)

Lost Society - Fast Loud Death

Nicht zu vergessen, auch WARBRINGER, REVOCATION, CRISIX, ESSENCE, TOXIC HOLOCAUST, FUELED BY FIRE, GAMA BOMB uvm. haben dieses Jahr erstklassiges Material veröffentlicht.

Mad Maze - Frames Of Alienation

Na bin ich mal gespannt. Viel zu lange hat es gedauert. Nun habe ich mir endlich mal die erste Veröffentlichung der italienischen Thrasher MAD MAZE gekauft. Die Erwartungen nach der Platte von ULTRA-VIOLENCE, deren Landsmänner sind hoch... ;) Wobei man ja fairerweise dazusagen muss, dass FRAMES OF ALIENATION schon früher veröffentlicht wurde.

... Also viele Hördurchläufe braucht der erste Longplayer von MAD MAZE nicht. :) Schon gleich der Opener holzt dermaßen rein. Bei diesem Album passt mal wieder alles. Vom Artwork (mal wieder vom Master of Disaster ED REPKA) über die sehr starken vocals bis hin zu den perfekten Arrangements und den tollen Leads. Ein Album das definitiv in keiner Sammlung fehlen sollte. Vor allem nicht wenn man(n) auf Bands wie z. B. EXODUS abfährt. ;)

Da ist es nur logisch, dass ich FRAMES OF ALIENATION die Höchstnote verleihe. 10/10!!! Und das ist keinesfalls übertrieben.
Jetzt mag der Ein oder Andere meinen dass ich diese Note ziemlich häufig verleihe, aber was soll ich machen?! Zieht euch die Samples unten rein und Ihr werdet verstehen. :)
Zugegeben, ich bin auch etwas befangen, wenn es um Südeuropäischen New Thrash geht. ;) Bands wie INJURY, ULTRA-VIOLENCE, ANGELUS APATRIDA, HYADES etc. veröffentlichen unter anderem seit mehreren Jahren mehr als erstklassige Thrash Alben und zählen daher nicht zu unrecht zu meinen absoluten Lieblingen!!

Fakt ist auch, wenn ich dieses Album bereits letztes Jahr nach dem Erscheinen gekauft hätte, hätte mein Ranking der Top 5 "2012" etwas anders ausgesehen.

TOXIC HOLOCAUST - CHEMISTRY OF CONSCIOUSNESS

Thrash mit sozialkritischen Texten scheint wieder in Mode zu kommen, was ich persönlich schon mal sehr geil finde denn ich denke dass die Musik durchaus mehr an Intensität gewinnt. Bester Beweis dafür sind die allgegenwärtigen Klassiker von MetallicA, Megadeth & Co.

Nach Unnatural Selection von HAVOK legt jetzt auch Joel Grind mit seiner Punk/Thrash Formation TOXIC HOLOCHAUST nach.

CHEMISTRY OF CONSCIOUSNESS heißt die neue Platte und was soll ich sagen Leute; VOLL AUF DIE FRESSE!!! Das triffts am besten denke ich. Von TOXIC HOLOCHAUST kenne ich bis jetzt nur den Vorgänger CONJURE & COMMAND und AN OVERDOSE OF DEATH. Beides ziemlich starkes Zeug aber mir gefällt CHEMISTRY OF CONSCIOUSNESS bis jetzt am besten. Songs wie RAT EATER, OUT OF THE FIRE und ACID FUZZ brennen sich sofort in den metallischen Gehörgang rein.

Was mir an TH mit am besten gefällt ist deren einzigartiger Sound. Du erkennst die Band direkt beim ersten Riff wieder. Vielen geht im heutigen Einheitsbrei unter. Das hier definitiv nicht! :) Zieht euch mal die Samples unten rein.

So die neue WARBRINGER mit dem recht simplen Titel "IV Empires Collapse" wäre dann auch seit letzten Freitag da

Wer mich ein wenig kennt weiß, dass ich auf ein gepflegtes Cover Artwork Wert lege. Also dass hier haut mich nicht wirklich vom Hocker!! Wenigstens sind auf der Plattenhülle alle Lyrics abgedruckt.

Der Sticker kündigt die Band als LEADER der NEW WAVE OF THRASH Bewegung an worüber sich natürlich streiten lässt. Keine Frage, dass Warbringer zu einer der wichtigen Bands aus der Anfangsstunde zählt aber LEADER?? Das sehe ich etwas anders. :)

Die Platte kommt als 180 g pressing incl. "Special Poster". So auch auf dem Sticker angekündigt. "Special" bedeutet in dem Fall Schwarz/ Weiß Poster mit mäßiger Druckqualität. Also auch nicht wirklich der Hit.
Als Band argumentiert man bestimmt, man wollte mal was Anderes machen und sich von der breiten Masse absetzten. Bitte verschont mich mit so nem Müll. Das ist einfach nur einfaltslos!! Wenn man sich mal was als "Special" für ne Vinyl ausdenken möchte, dann bitte sowas wie n Gutschein zum kostenfreien Download einer MP3 Version des Album. Dann kann man die Musik wenigstens auch mal unterwegs auf seinem tragbaren Gerät seiner Wahl hören. Leider ist das nur bei sehr wenigen Vertreibern angekommen. Naja, vielleicht was für die nahe Zukunft...

So, mal zum Inhalt der Platte. Darum geht es doch eigentlich wirklich. Und der kann sich sehen lassen. Die Bewertung in einem hier Zulande stark verkauften Magazin steigerte meine Vorfreude zur neuen Warbringer Scheibe umso mehr. Zurecht wurde nicht zu viel versprochen. Stellenweise geht das hier sogar ins rockige. Anspieltip "ONE DIMENSION", "IRON CITY". Sehr geil!! Und auch sonst steht der Groove bei dieser Platte ganz weit oben, was mich speziell sehr freut, da der Wiedererkennungswert der einzelnen Titel höher ist. Die Produktion ist fett, die Leads einfaltsreich und funktionieren immer mit der Musik.

Mit 11 Tracks und einer Spieldauer von etwas über 40 min. ist bestimmt für jeden Headbanger was dabei.

Fazit: Besser als WORLDS TORN ASUNDER?? Schwer zu sagen. Verstecken muss sich diese Scheibe jedoch auf keinen Fall vor seinem Vorgänger. Auf jeden Fall erwarten darf man keine traditionelle Scheibe wie WITHOUT WAR, dem Erstling der Band. Aufgrund der Vielschichtigkeit und der Weiterentwicklung der Mucke würd ich sagen, dass ne 8/10 durchaus angemessen ist.

Privilege To Overcome kicks maximum ASS; ne glatte 10/10! AWESOME!!!

Ein weiteres MUSTHAVE aus dem sonnigen Süden Europas. Schon am Cover erkennt man was einen erwartet. NEW THRASH, THRASH und nochmals THRASH vom allerfeinsten.

ULTRA-VIOLENCE aus Italien knüppeln dir auf Ihrem ersten Long Player dermaßen die Grütze aus dem Hirn, der helle Wahnsinn!!! Das Artwork zu v. g. Cover stammt von ED Repka und ist mal wieder ne Klasse für sich. Ich fahr total auf seine Arbeit ab und muss mir auch immer die Alben anhören, wenn ich ein Cover von Ihm sehe. Bis jetzt bin auch noch nie enttäuscht worden. Wo ED Repka drauf steht, ist offensichtlich auch viel Qualität drin. Das trifft natürlich auch auf diese Jungs zu. Als ich das Cover sah, hab ich mir die Band gleich angeschaut, jedoch so ein bischen wieder aus den Augen verloren. Im Thrash geht momentan einfach zu viel ab und man kann ja auch nicht alles kaufen. Die Band hatte ich dann erst wieder gegen Mai 2013 glaub ich auf dem Schirm, als das Vinyl unter NIGHT OF THE VINYL DEAD RECORDS veröffentlicht wurde. Von dieser Pressung gibt es gerade mal 250 handnummerierte Exemplare. Schon nach kurzer Zeit musste man sich etwas intensiver im Netz umschauen um noch Eine zu ergattern. Wer das jedoch geschafft hat, kann sich jetzt am 12" ergötzen. ;) Auch der Inhalt passt. Für sein Geld bekommt man fast 1 h feinsten NEW THRASH in seiner reinsten Form, ein Insert mit allen Lyrics und nicht eine, sondern gleich zwei Platten à 180 g. Ich frag mich, was man(n) mehr will. Pfeilschnelle Riffs, super Soli, prügelnde Drums, Neckbreaker Parts par excellence, grooven tut das Ding auch ohne Ende. Ich kann mich momentan nicht Satt dran hören.

SPELL OF THE MOON ist der perfekte Spagat zwischen Speed und Groove, RESTLESS PARASITE frisst sich sofort in deinem Kopf fest. Der Song könnte auch aus der Feder von den Jungs von LOST SOCIETY stammen. Genauso wie das anschließende Main Riff von TURN INTO DUST. THE VOODOO CROSS glänzt mit einem fetten Bass Intro dass widerum von einem noch fetteren Riff weiter geführt wird. Wem da nicht der Nacken brennt, dem ist auch nicht mehr zu helfen. Dann wirds melodiös in der Mitte bevor der Song wieder in einem groovenden Halsbrecher endet. Der Spaßfaktor ist schon nach der ersten Platte am Anschlag! Jetzt zuerst ein Bier...
YOU'RE DEAD! von der zweiten Platte schlägt gleich ein wie eine Bombe und ist ein leider kurzer Ausflug ins punkige. Der Song hat definitv Potential mein Fav auf dem Album zu werden. Besonders der kurze Double Bass/ EBass Part hat es mir angetan. Und natürlich das gerotze am Schluss. Ich steh auf so 'n Scheiß!! :)) THE BEAST BEHIND YOUR BACK erinnert mich sofort an SLAYER, zumindest das Main Riff, gepaart mit dem Nackenbrecher im Nachgang gibt ein mehr als soliedes Thrash Gewitter. So nen Song können sich die alten Herren um King & Co. auf ner neuen Veröffentlichung nur wünschen. 10.000 WAYS TO SPREAD MY HATE ist wohl das Motto des Albums und gibt, für mich jedenfalls auch perfekt die Spielfreude, die die Jungs auf dem gesamten Album an den Tag legen wieder. METAL MILIZIA ist ein Cover von IRA. Ich mag Cover. Für mich sind das keinesfalls Lückenfüller. Viele meinen immer "die haben die Platte nicht mit eigenen vernünftigen Songs voll bekommen und daher muss wieder ein Cover herhalten". Nein ich finds cool. Jeder der in ner Band spielt wird und muss das verstehen. Es macht einfach nur Bock Sachen von seinen Vorbildern zu zocken. METALLICA's Garage Inc. z. B. hatte für mich mit einen der besten Sounds den die Band je hatte. Und auch die enorme Spielfreude meint man beim Hören wie damals in den 80ern wieder zu spüren. So wie bei PRIVILEGE TO OVERCOME. In WHEN FUTURE & PAST COLLIDE geht es dann leider zu kurz instrumental zur Sache bevor es dann zum brutalen Rausschmeißer RIDE ACROSS THE STORM geht. Besser kann ein Album nicht ausklingen. Kaufen und genießen!!

Fazit: Einfach genial das Album und natürlich ne glatte 10 für mich!! Genauso muss ein NWOTM Album klingen!! 

Wem ANGELUS APATRIDA, HAVOK, DUST BOLT, LOST SOCIETY gut abgeht, wird diese Platte lieben. Für mich definitiv eines der besten Album in 2013. Ob es die Platte am Jahresende unter meine TOP 5 schafft?? Ganz bestimmt... ;))

wenn man aus dem Urlaub zurück kommt und da ist etwas, das auf dich gewartet hat! ;)

Fueled By Fire - Trapped In Perdition 7/10

Ich kann garnicht glauben, dass "PLUNGING INTO DARKNESS" schon drei Jahre alt ist!! FUELED BY FIRE hatte ich das erste mal auf dem Schirm als ich mir 2007 die Earache Compilation "THRASHING LIKE A MANIAC" gekauft habe. Da war der Song MASSIVE EXECUTION drauf. Das Intro is dermaßen cool. Der ganze Song ist der Hammer, aber wenn ich an den Song denke fällt mir immer spontan das geile Akustikintro ein.
 Nun schreiben wir 2013 und die Band hat diesen Monat schon ihr drittes Album an den Start gebracht. Irre wie die Zeit vergeht.
Die Platte kommt in einem Gatefold Cover, was ich schon mal sehr geil finde. Das Cover find ich jetzt so lala lala. Nix besonders. Das Layout widerum find ich ziemlich gut. Auch alle Songtexte sind abgedruckt. Das I bei FIRE fehlt und wurde offensichtlich im Druck vergessen :))) So ist das heut zu Tage. Da musste sparen wo es nur geht. ;))

Ich war jetzt noch nie ein Riesenfan der Band und fand jetzt auch PLUNGING INTO DARKNESS nicht unbedingt super geil aber was ich bis jetzt von TRAPPED IN PERDITION gehöhrt habe gefällt mir eigentlich ganz gut.
CATASTROPHE, der Opener walzt sofort alles platt. Pfeilschnelle Riffs gepaart mit stampfenden Galopp Riffs. Da geht einem jeden Thrasher sofort das Herz auf. ;))
SUFFERING ENTITIES ist ein super Mix aus Death/Thrash Riffing inkl. Headbang Motherfucker Part in der Mitte. Lediglich das Solo finde ich noch ausbaufähig. Klingt mir zu sehr nach SLAYER und ich mag keine SLAYER Solis. RIP Jeff!
FORSAKEN DEITY ist wieder ein schöner Midtempo Stampfer und einer meiner favorite Songs.
PROFANE PATH ich sag nur Kickdrum. Sehr wild der Part in Mitten des Songs.
DEFACED MORTALITY föhnt dir glaub ich live sowas von die Matte. Sehr geiles Riff gleich am Anfang. Auch die Harmonie Parts find ich richtig gut gelungen, passen zum Song und werten entsprechend auf. Super Rausschmeißer aus Seite A. ;)

SIDE B ist die logische Folge von A. Vielleicht ein bischen Deathlastiger sogar als A. Aber der ryhtmische Kopfschüttler kommt auch im zweiten Teil der Platte nicht zu kurz. Meine Faves auf Seite B sind OBLITERATION und ABEYANT FUTURE. Das Zusammenspiel der beiden Songs sind einfach nur genial.

Leider vermisse ich auch auf dieser Platte Ohrwürmer a la MASSIVE EXECUTION oder THRASH IS BACK.Dennoch 11 super Tracks die auf jeden Fall spaß machen. Persönlich finde ich ne Steigerung zum Vorgänger, die dennoch nicht an das Debut heran kommt. Trotz des mächtigen Sounds.

Ich gebe der Platte ne 7/10

I cannot believe, that "PLUNGING INTO DARKNESS" is already three years old! The first time I had FBF on the screen was back in 2007 when I bought the Earache Compilation "THRASHING LIKE A MANIAC" which feat. the Song MASSIVE EXECUTION.The intro is so cool. The whole song is awesome, but when I think of the song the, mighty acoustic intro rememberd always spontaneously. 

Now we write 2013 and this month FBF already released their third album. Crazy how time flies.The record comes in a gatefold cover, what is very cool I think. The Artwork not really blows me away but its OK. Nothing particularly. Naturally the layout I think is pretty good. All song lyrics are printed. The FIRE I is missing and was apparently forgotten in the pressure :))) So that is now-a-days. Save money where you can. ;))

I has never been a huge fan of the band and I think PLUNGING INTO DARKNESS is not one of their best work but what I heard until now by TRAPPED IN PERDITION I actually like quite well.

CATASTROPHE, the opener rolls immediately everything flat. Lightning-fast riffs paired with pounding Gallop riffs. The heart immediately goes up by every Thrasher. ;))

SUFFRING ENTITIES is a super blend of death/thrash riffing incl. Headbang motherfucker part in the middle. I think only the solo is yet expandable. Sounds to me too much like SLAYER and I like no SLAYER Solis. RIP Jeff!

FORSAKEN DEITY is again a nice midtempo masher and one of my favorite songs.

PROFANE PATH I only say kick drum. Very wild part in the middle of the song.

DEFACED MORTALITY blows you away by starting the song. Awesome riff at the very beginning which comes more heavier live I think. Also the harmony parts are really well managed, fit to the song, and upgrade accordingly. Super bouncer from page A. ;)

SIDE B is the logical consequence of A. Maybe even a little more Death parts than A. But also the rythms headbangers comes to their goal on side B. My faves on B are FUTURE OBLITERATION and ABEYANT. The interaction of the two songs are just awesome.

Unfortunately I miss catchy tunes a la MASSIVE EXECUTION or THRASH IS BACK. Anyway.. ON TRAPPED IN PERDITION you will find 11 thrash anthems that make a lot of fun definitely. Personally I find an increase to its predecessor, but still not coming up to the debut despite the powerful sounds.

I give this record a 7/10

Zum Beispiel ein Grund, warum ich nun in deutsch weiter schreibe.

Das Debutalbum von INJURY habe ich schon vor Monaten gekauft und wollte zu dieser Band speziell einen Beitrag schreiben weil ich finde, dass diese zwischen den üblichen Verdächtigen (Evile, Warbringer, BBB usw.) total untergehen und anscheinend nicht richtig gewürdigt werden.

Fakt ist, dass diese Combo aus Italien dermaßen bei mir eingeschlagen sind!! So einen fetten sound habe ich zuletzt bei Exodus Atrocity A gehört. Einfach genial!! Die haben sich auch einiges von den Großmeistern aus der Bay Area abgekupfert wie ich finde. Was keinesfalls negativ gemeint ist. Exodus gehört zu meinen All Time Favorites!!

INJURY wurde 2008 gegründet.

2010 veröffentlichten Sie in Eigenregie ihre erste Demo CD. Kurze Zeit später unterschrieb die Band einen Vertrag bei Punishment 18 Records und

im April 2011 wurde das Debut "UNLEASH THE VIOLENCE" unter v. g. Label veröffentlicht.

Auf jeden fall eine der besten Platte die ich mir vergangenes Jahr zugelegt habe. 
Wie ich finde ein perfekter Mix aus Exodus, Pantera, Metallica... Halt alles was kracht aus den 80s und 90s.

ich hab mich nun dazu entschlossen meinen Blog zukünftig in meiner Muttersprache zu füttern. Die Übersetzungen in englisch kosten für einen nicht so geübten Engländer wie mich immer so viel zeit. ;)

In The Pit Of: Suicidal Angels

That was an awesome night on 8th of January 2010... I was so drunk! :)) I spent all my money for beer. For the last 15 EUR and I had to choose between the SANCTITY THE DARKNESS CD or the Official Tour Shirt of Suicidal Angels. I decided to grab the Tour Shirt of course. Nick ask me if I have the SANCTITY THE DARKNESS record. I didn't had it at that time. I said no and I was sorry for can't buying it right now because I was so drunk and had no money left for the CD so Nick gave it to me and all of 'em signed the Booklet as well. After hanging awile with Angel and Nick, Angel woke me up at the end of the main act's set (I think KREATOR was playing) and I was carried home by my girlfriend. Great memories!! So thanks again to Nick and all of the Suicidal's!!!

Havok - Unnatural Selection 10/10

Long time since I bought my last NWOTM record so I went into the city last Saturday and bought Havok's Unnatural Selection.

So maybe some of you came up with the question: Why it took so long to get this record? Finally the album was released on 21. of June 2013...
Well I was waiting for a vinyl release but because I didn't heard anything about that until to this day, I couldn't wait any longer. I needed to know what the new record sounds like.

So when you first look at the producers name, you know this will sound like a head crusher. Amaizing sound, playful and musical a bit better than the previous release Time Is Up in my opinion. And Time Is Up was a monster of a new Thrash album!!

And if James Murphy is guilty as charged and he is responsible for the fine-tuning then horns up man. These little arrangements in Under the Gun, Waste Of Life are genious and fits in perfectly. 

As a drummer I must salute Mr. Webber once again. I mean listen to I Am The State. This drum part at the end of the song is so fantastic. You only hear that by Havok. It's a shame because there are so many good drummer around but Havok got it obviously.

My personal faves are I Am The State, It Is True, Under The Gun, Chasing The Edge and Worse Than War.

To me Havok is still one of the best new Thrash bands nowaday. There is now doubt about it! And I think they will get the last critic after this killer record.

I give Unnatural Selection a 10/10!!

I was lucky enough to see Havok live on the 5th of Mai 2012 with Jesse de los Santos on bass. One of the most intense Thrash gigs I've ever been in my life. And I'm through various gigs ;) Very nice and solid guys too. And they all signed my LP as well. AWESOME!!

So enough of the past, go and get their new release Unnatural Selection and mosh 'til you die!

Crisix - Rise ...Then Rest 9,5/10

What can I say about Crisix than that I love this band. I think one of the best things is that you can't compare it with regular new Thrash bands.

As I said before I really enjoyed their first full lenght The Menace. Unfortunately it doesn't exist on vinyl. Only CD!

Now two years later, the second long player is released and he doesn't hide from his successor. Especially the songs I.Y.F.F, Rise ...Then Rest, Bring 'Em To The Pit, Volcano Face and Waldi Gang have done it to me. They couldn't reach for a better end than with Waldi Gang. Absolutly genious! And the best of all for me, they bring it out on a vinyl press. Isn't that cool for a vinyl freak like me?! ;) Their awesome songwriting mark up this band the most in my opinion. It won't be lazy at no time and you get definitely a smile on your face on every single song. At least I get one. :)

To me definitely one of the highlights in 2013. And I hope to see these guys live soon here around because they should act like gone wild animals. Maybe together with their now more pupular countrymen Angelus Apatrida?! That would be killer!!

So for me Rise ...Then Rest deserve a killer 9,5/10!! -0,5 because I think this record is not for permanent listenings. Its so special and more for Thrash gourmets. Like a very good scotch you know?! The more you taste the more you don't be surprised how good it tastes actually ;)

Evile - Skull 9,5/10

So where should I start when it comes to a new Evile record?? I'm a hardcore fan of this band since 2007. I saw them a couple of times live and met all of 'em to one of the nicest dudes you could hang around with. I've collected everything from Enter The Grave I could find. Promo stuff, Test Pressings, Missprints and of course all the regular stuff. In my opinion Enter The Grave is still the best new Thrash record around!

So it's really not surprising that I was a bit disappointed about IN and FST. But I must say that the sound of FST blew me away. I was really excited when I heard that they will put out a new record this summer. What should I expect from the new release after IN and FST? Same producer, same studio, I think similar procedures. Honestly I really didn't expect very much if you look at killer releases by bands such as Lost Society, Dust Bolt, Eradikator, Lich King, Angelus Apatrida, Havok... (the list goes on)

But someone should teach me better again...

When I first heard Underworld from Skull I knew this album will be killer and I surely wanted to grab the ulta limited red vinyl version. The best thing I think on this record is Matt's singing. I always thought that he act to monoton but on Skull, man it's just killer! I really love the work and I think it pushs the album to another level. The sound is also amaizing and I think everybody increase if I say we don't have to talk about the individual quality of the members.
But I also have to repeat that in my opinion, it is definitely time for e new producer. I don't like these echo effects which came into the picture by producing the records with Russ. I like the raw power in Matts voice like in the beginning of "Eternal Empire" from FST. Or check out the new song "Outsider". I mean the screams, that's what I am talking about!  
So in fact of that and in fact that I really can not do very much with the cover artwork (I am sorry but I love more catchy stuff like Ed Repka, Bouzikov) Skull gets an awesome 9,5/10 from me also because of Matt's great work.

Dear Blog! I'm still alive and well...

...so if maybe some of you has noticed, it was quiet the last couple weeks here. The reason is not because I'm no any longer a Thrash Metal Maniac but I spent a bit of money for Scotch & Bourbon, so there was nothing left for any New Thrash Records. :))

But as you can see I got my new Evile & Cisix vinyl and it still goes on. So keep up the horns and enjoy the great weather outside (at least the german fux!! ;))

Tantara first time live in Germany

I was in Darmstadt, GER on May 08 to see Tantara for the first time live. By the way it was also their first appearance here in Germany. They kicked maximum ASS that night. Huge thanx to Fred for the nice conversation and of corse for signing my LP's as well ;). Also thanx a lot to Stian & Emil! Hope everything's ok with Per?!

And beside of that I was able to see 4 other bands - Stage War, Torture Squad, Artillery and....... GAMA BOMB!! Amaizing night with lots of beerz!!
