NEAAAAHHHH I'LL BE BACK!!! Austrian Death Maschine - Triple Brutal 3,9/5 Get your gymspiration NAOW!

Wenn wir einmal alle ehrlich zu uns sind, würde nicht Austrian Death Machine auf der Platte drauf stehen, würde dieses Album wohl alle Rekorde brechen. Man kann in Bezug auf Tim sagen und halten was man will, aber diese Platte ist nicht Total Brutal, nicht Double Brutal und auch NICHT Triple Brutal. Dieses Album ist MAXIMUM BRUTAL!!!

If we're all honest to ourselves, if there was not written Austrian Death Machine on it, this record will score highest levels. You can say what you want about Tim Lambesis, but this record is not Total Brutal, is not Double Brutal and it is NOT Triple Brutal. This is MAXIMUM BRUTAL!!!

SONGWRITING 4/5
Sehr geile Songs. Von Vorne bis Hinten durch, die Platte behält ihr Abwechslungsreichtum. Wohl auch eine, wenn nicht sogar die Thrashigste Platte von Austrian Death Machine. Zwei der wohl besten Beispiele "I Know Now Why You Cry" und das darauf folgende "I Lied". Hier schäumt mein Thrasherherz nur so über vor Freude. ;) Killer Solies, der Spaßfaktor war wohl noch nie so hoch.
Leider für meinen Geschmack aber immer noch eine zu hohe Essenz an Metalcore. Auch würde ich mir im "Gesang" mehr Abwechslung wünschen. Versteht mich bitte nicht falsch, ich liebe Crowls, aber ein bischen mehr Stimme an der ein oder anderen Stelle, hätte den Songs sicherlich nicht schlecht getan. Daher kann ich leider nicht die Höhstpunktzahl vergeben.

Great songs. Varied from the beginning until to the end. One, if not THE thrashiest record of Austrian Death Machine. Two of the best examples "I Know Now Why You Cry" and the following "I Lied". These will start pumping my thrashing heart. ;) Killer Solies, the fun part was never higher than this in my opinion. 
But also for me too much essence of Metalcore. I also would like to hear more varity in the vocals. Don't get me wrong, I'm really diggin' heavy crowls, but I think a bit more voice here and there wouldn't effect the songs in a negativ way. Therefore I can't give the highest score for songwriting. 


SOUND 5/5
Soundtechnisch kannste wohl viel mehr nicht raus holen. Eine Mischung aus moderner Heavyness und klassischer Leichtigkeit. Drums und Bass sind perfekt auf einander abgestimmt und abgemischt.

Soundingwise, you can't get more. A Mix of modern heavyness and classic ease. Drums and Bass are matched perfectly to each other.

Havok - Unnatural Selection Vinyl 5/5

Über dieses Album habe ich eigentlich schon alles hier im Blog gesagt. Eins meiner Favorites in 2013. Umso besser, dass jetzt 2014 die logische Schlussfolgerung, nämlich die Platte auch in 12" zu pressen endlich erfolgte. Und um dem Ganzen noch das gewisse Etwas zu verleihen, haben die Leute bei BACK ON BLACK wirklich alles in die Platte gesteckt was ging. 180 g feinstes Vinyl als Double Gatefold LP mit der kompletten POINT OF NO RETURN EP von 2012. Halloohoo? Wie geil ist das denn bitte?!!



SONGWRITING 5/5
Thrash Metal wie du Ihn besser nicht machen kannst. Die alten Herrschaften von Metallica, Slayer und Co. wären froh, sie könnten heute nochmal so ne Platte veröffentlichen. Alt bleibt genial, aber jetzt ist es Zeit für die neuen Wilden. ;) 

SOUND 6/5
Soundtechnisch setzt diese Platte neue Maßstäbe und klingt nochmal besser als die digitale Veröffentlichung. Der Sound ist viel druckvoller als auf CD. Der absolute Wahnsinn!! God bless vinyl!! ;) Jetzt wird der Sound dem Album auch wirklich gerecht.

Havok - Burn Vinyl 4/5

So as many of you Thrash Fux outside know, Havok released all their three records again as vinyl presses. I've ordered the "Burn" & "Unnatural Selection" LP because I have the original release of "Time Is Up" from 2011. So there are only the two other LP's which were missed in my Vinyl Collection.

Back on Black/ Plastichead did an amaizing job I tell ya! From the Gatefold to the vinyl itself, it's killer!! I'm through the Burn LP right now and the sound is amaizing. 10 times better than the CD version in my opinion!! So vinyl is still worth it. Maybe more than ever. Which not means, that the CD is crap. ;)

I bought the CD version back when it was released in 2009 I think. So this record accompanied me most of my NWOTM collecting times. More pleasing that it was now released in a wonderful 12" Gatefold Cover on a fine 100% 180 g pure vinyl. Could not be better than that.

SONGWRITING 4,5/5
It's just great. All this good arrangements, the soli-battles formed this album to one of the best at its time. And it still killes you by the first hit of the snare. I'm also still of the opinion, that the solis are one of the best they ever wrote 'til to this day. Also Shawn was the best cast on Bass I think. He did one of the bands best work on the second album "Time Is UP". I really miss him. Not only because he was a bad-ass bass player. He also was a damn cool guy.

SOUND 3/5
Rough is the first thing which came up when I think of the sound. In quality not so dominant than the further releases but also ground-breaking at its time.

In summery 12 songs, one of em just an intro but not bad for a first full-length. In total 49:23 100% Bay Area Thrash Metal in your face!

To me, it reflects perfectly the songs and the dynamic of this record.

The Back on Black Releases comes as a 180 g vinyl in a 12" Gatefold Cover. Great processing including all the lyrics on one side. A bit confusing, because the song titles are a little small. So you cannot immediatley recognize the individual titles. And this is maybe the only thing I could complain about it. ;)

All in all still one of my beloved records. 4/5 is not a bad view on it right?! ;)

TOXIC HOLOCAUST - CHEMISTRY OF CONSCIOUSNESS

Thrash mit sozialkritischen Texten scheint wieder in Mode zu kommen, was ich persönlich schon mal sehr geil finde denn ich denke dass die Musik durchaus mehr an Intensität gewinnt. Bester Beweis dafür sind die allgegenwärtigen Klassiker von MetallicA, Megadeth & Co.

Nach Unnatural Selection von HAVOK legt jetzt auch Joel Grind mit seiner Punk/Thrash Formation TOXIC HOLOCHAUST nach.

CHEMISTRY OF CONSCIOUSNESS heißt die neue Platte und was soll ich sagen Leute; VOLL AUF DIE FRESSE!!! Das triffts am besten denke ich. Von TOXIC HOLOCHAUST kenne ich bis jetzt nur den Vorgänger CONJURE & COMMAND und AN OVERDOSE OF DEATH. Beides ziemlich starkes Zeug aber mir gefällt CHEMISTRY OF CONSCIOUSNESS bis jetzt am besten. Songs wie RAT EATER, OUT OF THE FIRE und ACID FUZZ brennen sich sofort in den metallischen Gehörgang rein.

Was mir an TH mit am besten gefällt ist deren einzigartiger Sound. Du erkennst die Band direkt beim ersten Riff wieder. Vielen geht im heutigen Einheitsbrei unter. Das hier definitiv nicht! :) Zieht euch mal die Samples unten rein.

So die neue WARBRINGER mit dem recht simplen Titel "IV Empires Collapse" wäre dann auch seit letzten Freitag da

Wer mich ein wenig kennt weiß, dass ich auf ein gepflegtes Cover Artwork Wert lege. Also dass hier haut mich nicht wirklich vom Hocker!! Wenigstens sind auf der Plattenhülle alle Lyrics abgedruckt.

Der Sticker kündigt die Band als LEADER der NEW WAVE OF THRASH Bewegung an worüber sich natürlich streiten lässt. Keine Frage, dass Warbringer zu einer der wichtigen Bands aus der Anfangsstunde zählt aber LEADER?? Das sehe ich etwas anders. :)

Die Platte kommt als 180 g pressing incl. "Special Poster". So auch auf dem Sticker angekündigt. "Special" bedeutet in dem Fall Schwarz/ Weiß Poster mit mäßiger Druckqualität. Also auch nicht wirklich der Hit.
Als Band argumentiert man bestimmt, man wollte mal was Anderes machen und sich von der breiten Masse absetzten. Bitte verschont mich mit so nem Müll. Das ist einfach nur einfaltslos!! Wenn man sich mal was als "Special" für ne Vinyl ausdenken möchte, dann bitte sowas wie n Gutschein zum kostenfreien Download einer MP3 Version des Album. Dann kann man die Musik wenigstens auch mal unterwegs auf seinem tragbaren Gerät seiner Wahl hören. Leider ist das nur bei sehr wenigen Vertreibern angekommen. Naja, vielleicht was für die nahe Zukunft...

So, mal zum Inhalt der Platte. Darum geht es doch eigentlich wirklich. Und der kann sich sehen lassen. Die Bewertung in einem hier Zulande stark verkauften Magazin steigerte meine Vorfreude zur neuen Warbringer Scheibe umso mehr. Zurecht wurde nicht zu viel versprochen. Stellenweise geht das hier sogar ins rockige. Anspieltip "ONE DIMENSION", "IRON CITY". Sehr geil!! Und auch sonst steht der Groove bei dieser Platte ganz weit oben, was mich speziell sehr freut, da der Wiedererkennungswert der einzelnen Titel höher ist. Die Produktion ist fett, die Leads einfaltsreich und funktionieren immer mit der Musik.

Mit 11 Tracks und einer Spieldauer von etwas über 40 min. ist bestimmt für jeden Headbanger was dabei.

Fazit: Besser als WORLDS TORN ASUNDER?? Schwer zu sagen. Verstecken muss sich diese Scheibe jedoch auf keinen Fall vor seinem Vorgänger. Auf jeden Fall erwarten darf man keine traditionelle Scheibe wie WITHOUT WAR, dem Erstling der Band. Aufgrund der Vielschichtigkeit und der Weiterentwicklung der Mucke würd ich sagen, dass ne 8/10 durchaus angemessen ist.

Fueled By Fire - Trapped In Perdition 7/10

Ich kann garnicht glauben, dass "PLUNGING INTO DARKNESS" schon drei Jahre alt ist!! FUELED BY FIRE hatte ich das erste mal auf dem Schirm als ich mir 2007 die Earache Compilation "THRASHING LIKE A MANIAC" gekauft habe. Da war der Song MASSIVE EXECUTION drauf. Das Intro is dermaßen cool. Der ganze Song ist der Hammer, aber wenn ich an den Song denke fällt mir immer spontan das geile Akustikintro ein.
 Nun schreiben wir 2013 und die Band hat diesen Monat schon ihr drittes Album an den Start gebracht. Irre wie die Zeit vergeht.
Die Platte kommt in einem Gatefold Cover, was ich schon mal sehr geil finde. Das Cover find ich jetzt so lala lala. Nix besonders. Das Layout widerum find ich ziemlich gut. Auch alle Songtexte sind abgedruckt. Das I bei FIRE fehlt und wurde offensichtlich im Druck vergessen :))) So ist das heut zu Tage. Da musste sparen wo es nur geht. ;))

Ich war jetzt noch nie ein Riesenfan der Band und fand jetzt auch PLUNGING INTO DARKNESS nicht unbedingt super geil aber was ich bis jetzt von TRAPPED IN PERDITION gehöhrt habe gefällt mir eigentlich ganz gut.
CATASTROPHE, der Opener walzt sofort alles platt. Pfeilschnelle Riffs gepaart mit stampfenden Galopp Riffs. Da geht einem jeden Thrasher sofort das Herz auf. ;))
SUFFERING ENTITIES ist ein super Mix aus Death/Thrash Riffing inkl. Headbang Motherfucker Part in der Mitte. Lediglich das Solo finde ich noch ausbaufähig. Klingt mir zu sehr nach SLAYER und ich mag keine SLAYER Solis. RIP Jeff!
FORSAKEN DEITY ist wieder ein schöner Midtempo Stampfer und einer meiner favorite Songs.
PROFANE PATH ich sag nur Kickdrum. Sehr wild der Part in Mitten des Songs.
DEFACED MORTALITY föhnt dir glaub ich live sowas von die Matte. Sehr geiles Riff gleich am Anfang. Auch die Harmonie Parts find ich richtig gut gelungen, passen zum Song und werten entsprechend auf. Super Rausschmeißer aus Seite A. ;)

SIDE B ist die logische Folge von A. Vielleicht ein bischen Deathlastiger sogar als A. Aber der ryhtmische Kopfschüttler kommt auch im zweiten Teil der Platte nicht zu kurz. Meine Faves auf Seite B sind OBLITERATION und ABEYANT FUTURE. Das Zusammenspiel der beiden Songs sind einfach nur genial.

Leider vermisse ich auch auf dieser Platte Ohrwürmer a la MASSIVE EXECUTION oder THRASH IS BACK.Dennoch 11 super Tracks die auf jeden Fall spaß machen. Persönlich finde ich ne Steigerung zum Vorgänger, die dennoch nicht an das Debut heran kommt. Trotz des mächtigen Sounds.

Ich gebe der Platte ne 7/10

TRANSLATION

I cannot believe, that "PLUNGING INTO DARKNESS" is already three years old! The first time I had FBF on the screen was back in 2007 when I bought the Earache Compilation "THRASHING LIKE A MANIAC" which feat. the Song MASSIVE EXECUTION.The intro is so cool. The whole song is awesome, but when I think of the song the, mighty acoustic intro rememberd always spontaneously. 

Now we write 2013 and this month FBF already released their third album. Crazy how time flies.The record comes in a gatefold cover, what is very cool I think. The Artwork not really blows me away but its OK. Nothing particularly. Naturally the layout I think is pretty good. All song lyrics are printed. The FIRE I is missing and was apparently forgotten in the pressure :))) So that is now-a-days. Save money where you can. ;))

I has never been a huge fan of the band and I think PLUNGING INTO DARKNESS is not one of their best work but what I heard until now by TRAPPED IN PERDITION I actually like quite well.

CATASTROPHE, the opener rolls immediately everything flat. Lightning-fast riffs paired with pounding Gallop riffs. The heart immediately goes up by every Thrasher. ;))

SUFFRING ENTITIES is a super blend of death/thrash riffing incl. Headbang motherfucker part in the middle. I think only the solo is yet expandable. Sounds to me too much like SLAYER and I like no SLAYER Solis. RIP Jeff!

FORSAKEN DEITY is again a nice midtempo masher and one of my favorite songs.

PROFANE PATH I only say kick drum. Very wild part in the middle of the song.

DEFACED MORTALITY blows you away by starting the song. Awesome riff at the very beginning which comes more heavier live I think. Also the harmony parts are really well managed, fit to the song, and upgrade accordingly. Super bouncer from page A. ;)

SIDE B is the logical consequence of A. Maybe even a little more Death parts than A. But also the rythms headbangers comes to their goal on side B. My faves on B are FUTURE OBLITERATION and ABEYANT. The interaction of the two songs are just awesome.

Unfortunately I miss catchy tunes a la MASSIVE EXECUTION or THRASH IS BACK. Anyway.. ON TRAPPED IN PERDITION you will find 11 thrash anthems that make a lot of fun definitely. Personally I find an increase to its predecessor, but still not coming up to the debut despite the powerful sounds.

I give this record a 7/10

Havok - Unnatural Selection 10/10

Long time since I bought my last NWOTM record so I went into the city last Saturday and bought Havok's Unnatural Selection.

So maybe some of you came up with the question: Why it took so long to get this record? Finally the album was released on 21. of June 2013...
Well I was waiting for a vinyl release but because I didn't heard anything about that until to this day, I couldn't wait any longer. I needed to know what the new record sounds like.

So when you first look at the producers name, you know this will sound like a head crusher. Amaizing sound, playful and musical a bit better than the previous release Time Is Up in my opinion. And Time Is Up was a monster of a new Thrash album!!

And if James Murphy is guilty as charged and he is responsible for the fine-tuning then horns up man. These little arrangements in Under the Gun, Waste Of Life are genious and fits in perfectly. 

As a drummer I must salute Mr. Webber once again. I mean listen to I Am The State. This drum part at the end of the song is so fantastic. You only hear that by Havok. It's a shame because there are so many good drummer around but Havok got it obviously.

My personal faves are I Am The State, It Is True, Under The Gun, Chasing The Edge and Worse Than War.

To me Havok is still one of the best new Thrash bands nowaday. There is now doubt about it! And I think they will get the last critic after this killer record.

I give Unnatural Selection a 10/10!!

I was lucky enough to see Havok live on the 5th of Mai 2012 with Jesse de los Santos on bass. One of the most intense Thrash gigs I've ever been in my life. And I'm through various gigs ;) Very nice and solid guys too. And they all signed my LP as well. AWESOME!!

So enough of the past, go and get their new release Unnatural Selection and mosh 'til you die!

Revocation is a Death/Thrash performance from Boston Massachusetts. The band was formed in 2000 by guitarist/singer David, bassist Anthony, drummer Phil and went by the name Cryptic Warning. In 2006 they changed the name into Revocation.

Cryptic Warning was mainly influenced by bands like Guns N Roses and Metallica. Now Revocation plays more extreme metal, reminds me on Exodus, Shadows Fall. Playful like Annihilatior, Opeth or Threat Signal and that's what made the band more interesting than other bands in this genre for me. These guys really kicks ass and I don't know why I realised this band so late. Everyone knows exactely how to use his instrument. Dudes check the tracks below and you will see what I mean. Inhale this big fat motherfukin' sound!! The future is wide wide open for this band and they overrun you and breaking all your goddamn bones. Vektor - Outer Isolation 8/10

I couldn't understand why everybody's freakin' out nowadays when it comes to a band called Vektor. So it made me interested and I bought their new record Outer Isolation as a limited clear vinyl version which came out in late 2012 via Earache Records.
The first release of Outer Isolation was back in 2011 on a CD press.

After hearing it I'm definitely smarter now. ;)

Vektor was born in 2002 and they have currently three records out. 1. Demolition from (2006)  I  2. Black Future (2009)  I  3. Outer Isolation (2011)

These guys from Tempe Arizona plays a really cool mix of Death-/ Thrash Metal. Very different from what's out at the moment. 8 tracks with a running time of almost an hour. Excellent technically wise. In my opinion, the reason why they get so hyped in the scene right now absolutely right. No doubt about it! Only negative on the vinyl version I can say, is that there were no lyrics inside but in fact that the music speaks for itself and the vinyl look in general totally amaizing I give this record a 8/10.
