Zu diesem Gig gibt es eine kleine Vorgeschichte.

Endlich war es soweit. Ich hatte Tickets für meine fav. new thrash band. Am 23.02.2008 sollte ich EVILE zum ersten mal live erleben. Denkst du! Als wir am 23.02. in Luxembourg angekommen waren erhielten wir die Nachricht, dass die Band einen Unfall mit Ihrem Trailer hatten und an diesem Abend nicht hier sind. Absolut scheiße dachte ich, weil ich extra wegen EVILE dort war. DOCH MEGADAVE sollte es an dem Abend raus reißen. Trotz einiger technischer Schwierigkeiten an dem Abend spielte MEGADETH satte 2 h. Sogar Klassiker wie THE MECHANIX fand man auf der Setlist. Also alles in Allem hat es sich trotzdem richtig gelohnt.

Back home again, I contacted EVILE's management to tell 'em, that I really missed the band the evening before. Soon after that I got a replay and the tour manager told me, that he will put me and a friend of mine, who was visiting MEGADETH too on 23th of Feb. with me on the guest list for Frankfurt (Neu-Isenburg) on 11th of March 2008. The last gig of the tour! Freakin' out!!! ;)

So weit so gut, als wir dann in Frankfurt angekommen sind und der Türsteher uns erzählte, wir würden nicht auf der Gästeliste stehen, glaubte ich schon die Band nie live erleben zu können. Doch zwei Bestechungsbier später holte er den Tour Manager zu uns raus und alles klärte sich auf.

An den Abend werde ich mich noch lange erinnern. Mein Kumpel und ich versoffen an dem Abend glaub ich 100,- EUR. Wir hingen den ganzen Abend mit der Band ab and I got signed my ENTER THE GRAVE CD. Mike trafen wir hauptsächlich draußen beim rauchen. Er gammelte uns immer um Feuer an.  We talked a lot about music and alltägliche sachen. He was so a nice guy! You will never be forgotten!! RIP Mike!!!

THRASH-BACK 2013!!

So Thrashers,

das Jahr neigt sich wieder dem Ende... Wahnsinn wie die Zeit vergeht. Kommt mir so vor, als hätte ich gerade gestern noch das Jahr 2012 revue passieren lassen. Und alter Schwede was war das ein Jahr für uns Thrasher. Keine, aber absolut keine Wünsche wurden übrig gelassen. Schweren Herzens entscheide ich mich nun mal für meine absoluten Top 5:



OK, Platz 5 belegt bei mir eine Band, wie soll es auch sein aus dem Süden Europas. ULTRA-VIOLENCE aus Italien veröffentlichten ihren ersten Longplayer "PRIVILEGE TO OVERCOME" und der holzt dermaßen rein. Überragender Sound, geile Riffs, sollte in 2013 in keinem THRASH-Regal fehlen. Also noch eine sehr junge Band, von der wir in Zukunft sicher das Ein oder Andere Schmankerl erwarten dürfen.

Ultra-Violence - Privilege To Overcome

Platz 4 kommt ebenfalls aus dem Süden, jedoch aus dem Süden Amerikas. VIOLATOR brachten für mich dieses Jahr wohl mit ihr bestes Album "SCENARIOS OF BRUTALITY" raus. Im Januar 2014 kommt diese geniale Platte auch endlich als Vinyl-Pressung raus.

Violator - Scenarios Of Brutality

Platz 3 und nur eine haaresbreite an 2 vorbeigeschrammelt das neue Meisterwerk von EVILE "SKULL". Nach ihrem Debut "Enter the Grave" für mich das beste Album, was Evile veröffentlicht hat. Die Songs sind etwas eingängiger und ich finde, Matt hat am Gesang nochmal ne ganze Schippe drauf gelegt. Absolut geniales Teil und jedem der die Band spätestens nach Five Serpents Teeth abgeschrieben hat, empfehle ich hier mal ein Ohr reinzuhängen.

Evile - Skull

Platz 2 nicht nur aufgrund des brutalen Sounds, sondern vor allem wegen dem übertriebenen Drumming geht an die Thrasher aus Denver HAVOK. Mit "UNNATURAL SELECTION" finde ich, haben Sie sogar ihr 2tes Release "Time Is Up" minimal übertroffen. Wobei "Time Is Up" schon ein wahnsinns Album ist... Also echt ziemlich schwer da ne konkrete Aussage zu treffen. Im Februar, wird dieses Meisterwerk auf Vinyl erscheinen. Zusammen mit ihrem Debut "Burn", welches für mein Geschmack die bis dato besten Solis beinhaltet.

Havok - Unnatural Selection

Platz 1 geht unangefochten an die Newcomer des Jahres. Und die stammen aus Finnland. An LOST SOCIETY dürfte dieses Jahr wohl keiner vorbei kommen. Mit ihrem Erstlingswerk "FAST LOUD DEATH" dürften LS wohl alle Recorde brechen. Zurzeit sprießen auf Facebook Chapter Sites aus aller Herrenländer wie Unkraut aus dem Boden. Kein Wunder, denn diese junge frische Härte, die dieses Album so auszeichnet vermisst man leider viel zu häufig bei Neuerscheinungen. Das zweite Album ist bereits im Kasten und ich kann es kauf erwarten das neue Material zu hören. Selbst sehe ich die Jungs im Januar zum ersten Mal live. Kanns kaum erwarten zu Hymnen wie "E.a.G., Braindead Metalhead, Bitch, Get Out' My Way oder Piss Out My Ass" abzumoshen. ;)

Lost Society - Fast Loud Death

Nicht zu vergessen, auch WARBRINGER, REVOCATION, CRISIX, ESSENCE, TOXIC HOLOCAUST, FUELED BY FIRE, GAMA BOMB uvm. haben dieses Jahr erstklassiges Material veröffentlicht.

Evile - Skull 9,5/10

So where should I start when it comes to a new Evile record?? I'm a hardcore fan of this band since 2007. I saw them a couple of times live and met all of 'em to one of the nicest dudes you could hang around with. I've collected everything from Enter The Grave I could find. Promo stuff, Test Pressings, Missprints and of course all the regular stuff. In my opinion Enter The Grave is still the best new Thrash record around!

So it's really not surprising that I was a bit disappointed about IN and FST. But I must say that the sound of FST blew me away. I was really excited when I heard that they will put out a new record this summer. What should I expect from the new release after IN and FST? Same producer, same studio, I think similar procedures. Honestly I really didn't expect very much if you look at killer releases by bands such as Lost Society, Dust Bolt, Eradikator, Lich King, Angelus Apatrida, Havok... (the list goes on)

But someone should teach me better again...

When I first heard Underworld from Skull I knew this album will be killer and I surely wanted to grab the ulta limited red vinyl version. The best thing I think on this record is Matt's singing. I always thought that he act to monoton but on Skull, man it's just killer! I really love the work and I think it pushs the album to another level. The sound is also amaizing and I think everybody increase if I say we don't have to talk about the individual quality of the members.
But I also have to repeat that in my opinion, it is definitely time for e new producer. I don't like these echo effects which came into the picture by producing the records with Russ. I like the raw power in Matts voice like in the beginning of "Eternal Empire" from FST. Or check out the new song "Outsider". I mean the screams, that's what I am talking about!  
So in fact of that and in fact that I really can not do very much with the cover artwork (I am sorry but I love more catchy stuff like Ed Repka, Bouzikov) Skull gets an awesome 9,5/10 from me also because of Matt's great work.

Evile - Enter the Grave 11/10

For servaral years, the opinions about Evile differ greatly. But in my personal opinion, they're still one of the best in this genre and I think their debut from 2007 isn't reached until to this day!

I'm banging right now to Enter the Grave which was the beginning of the whole revival Thrash Scene for me started with all these great bands from the UK like Gama Bomb, SSS, Pitiful Reign, Mutant, Warpath, Savage Messiah... and man it's damn bloody good to hear this old sh#t right now!! 10 killer produced old school Thrash Metal songs by non other than legendary Flemming Rasmussen (Metallica) at Sweet Silence Studios in Kopenhagen, Dänemark. With this record you will find everything which you will search in Thrash Metal music. Killer vox, killer drums, killer riffs, killer solo work. It's just perfect for me and because of that this milestone deserve a 11/10 hell yeah!!
My personal favorites of this record are the awesome opener and the song, which gave this classic it's name ENTER THE GRAVE, then it goes on with FIRST BLOOD, a tribute to the 1st Rambo film, then KILLER FROM THE DEEP with for me one of the best head crushing riffs in the middle to the dark melodic intro of WE WHO ARE ABOUT TO DIE to BATHE IN BLOOD with a main riff that will kill all your cervical and this damn good finisher ARMOURED ASSAULT so you see, this album is fully packed with ballz to wall music.

To me; the NWOTM Cult started with releasing of AHE! No other band represents the NWOTM-Scene as Evile!

This EP was the first Release of Evile back in 2004. Meanwhile a really RARE collectors item. Almost impossible to raise one. 6 old school sounding Thrash songs.
