Tulkas - 2016 - Freedom thoughts

Have you heard of mexican Thrash Metal Band TULKAS? If not, check 'em out. Phenomenal debut. They won the mexican Metal Battle and had the opportunity to play at this years Wacken Open Air Festival. First full length out since 30th of June 2016. I think there is only a mp3 version out. No physicals as long as I know.

Space Chaser from Germany

Is doch schon ne ganze Weile her, dass ich hier etwas gepostet habe. Nun ja, dafür gibts heute New Thrash aus good old Germany.

Die Band um die es heute geht heißt SPACE CHASER. Aufmerksam bin ich auf die Band aus unserer Hauptstadt Berlin in einer landesweiten Fachzeitschrift *zwinker* geworden.

Ohne große Worte verschwenden zu wollen, ziehts euch einfach selber rein! ;)

Die Band selbst sagt von sich, dass Sie riesige Anhänger der amerikanischen Thrash Metal Bewegung wären. Die üblichen Verdächtigen halt; Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer usw. Für mich jedoch eher direkte Parallelen zu BONDED BY BLOOD z. B.

SPACE CHASER haben jetzt 2014 ihren ersten Longplayer namens "Watch the Skies!" veröffentlicht. Zuvor ein Demo "Space Chaser" aus 2012 und eine EP "Decapitron" aus 2013. Fleißig fleißig, wenn man bedenkt, dass es die Band erst seit 2011 gibt.

Bio-Cancer - Ear Piercing Thrash

Sehr geil, das war doch mal 'n Schnäppchen!! Dieses Debut wollte ich eigentlich schon die ganze Zeit kaufen, jedoch kam dann doch immer wieder das ein oder andere Album dazwischen. Nun das Warten hat sich ausgezahlt. Für die Platte inkl. full embroided Patch, welcher qualitativ wirklich sehr hochwertig ist und einfach richtig cool aussieht habe ich gerade einmal 15,- EUR + Versand bezahlt. FREU!! :)
BIO-CANCER, wer die Band noch nicht kennt, stammen aus sehr armen Verhältnissen. Aus Griechenland, genauer gesagt aus Athen. hahahah!! Darf ich sowas überhaupt sagen? Scheiß drauf... :) Ne also die Griechen haben's echt drauf in Sachen Thrash. Man beachte nur die ganzen anderen großartigen Bands die aus diesem - wohl eins der schönsten Länder Europa's die ich bis jetzt so gesehen hab Land kommen - wie SUICIDAL ANGELS, CHRONOSPHERE, MENTALLY DEFILED usw. BIO-CANCER treiben seit 2010 ihr Unwesen in der Metalscene. 2012 namen Sie dann EAR PIERCING THRASH auf. Durch durchgängig super Resonanzen im Web, Reviews aus aller Welt wuchs deren Fanbase stetig an. So wurde letztendlich auch ich auf die Band aufmerksam. Heute sind BIO-CANCER nicht mehr nur ein Insidertip, sondern zählen schon zu den heißesten Anwertern auf den griecheischen Thrash Olymp.

SONGWRITING 3/5
Kein Wunder, denn das Songwriting ist ziemlich stark. Man bewegt sich ständig im Highspeed Limit und schraubt aber an den passenden Stellen das Tempo auch wieder runter. Nackenbrechergarantie inklusive! Die Vox sind vielleicht für den Ein oder Anderen etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig und wirken tatsächlich nach ner gewissen Zeit etwas Eindiemensional, allerdings werden die Songs immer wieder durch Backingvocals aufgefrischt. Das Konzept stimmt und geht auf. Die Arrangements sind cool und lassen die Platte zu keinem Zeitpunkt langweilig wirken. Die Gitarren als auch die Drums haben nen fetten Sound verpasst bekommen. Die Solies sind gut. Alles in Allem ein sehr solides Machtwerk! Vor allem wenn man bedenkt, dass EAR PIERCING THRASH ein Debut ist. Freu mich da schon auf die Fortsetzung.

Die insgesamt 8 Songs kommen leider nur auf eine Spiezeit von noch nicht einmal einer halben Stunde. Da geht noch was...

ARTWORK 4/5
Das Cover stammt von Andrei Bouzikov. Dürfte den Meisten ein Begriff sein. Hat unter anderem schon für DUST BOLT, MUNICIPAL WASTE, SKELETONWITCH, VIOLATOR uvm. gezeichnet. Für mich einer der Besten! Und auch dieses Cover ist wieder richtig gut gelungen. Visuell spiegelt es den Albumtitel perfekt wieder.

LAYOUT 3,5/5
Das Layout ist ganz anständig. Leider keine Gatefold LP dafür auch wieder ein doppelseitig bedrucktes Inlay mit vielen Bandfotos sowie allen Lyrics zum nachschreien.


Von mir erhält EAR PIERCING THRASH ne 3,1/5 und ist somit zurecht so gehypt in der globalen Thrash Community. Lang lebe das WWW!!

Supportet die Band, z. B. auf deren Facebook Site BIO-CANCER FACEBOOK. Ansonsten bleibt mir nicht mehr viel zu sagen außer viel Spaß mit den Tunes und tut der Wirtschaft und natürlich euren Gehörgängen etwas Gutes und legt euch die Platte zu.

2014 ist glaub ich schon was Neues geplant. Näheres hierzu findet ihr sicherlich auf der Facebook Seite.

Zum Beispiel ein Grund, warum ich nun in deutsch weiter schreibe.

Das Debutalbum von INJURY habe ich schon vor Monaten gekauft und wollte zu dieser Band speziell einen Beitrag schreiben weil ich finde, dass diese zwischen den üblichen Verdächtigen (Evile, Warbringer, BBB usw.) total untergehen und anscheinend nicht richtig gewürdigt werden.

Fakt ist, dass diese Combo aus Italien dermaßen bei mir eingeschlagen sind!! So einen fetten sound habe ich zuletzt bei Exodus Atrocity A gehört. Einfach genial!! Die haben sich auch einiges von den Großmeistern aus der Bay Area abgekupfert wie ich finde. Was keinesfalls negativ gemeint ist. Exodus gehört zu meinen All Time Favorites!!

INJURY wurde 2008 gegründet.

2010 veröffentlichten Sie in Eigenregie ihre erste Demo CD. Kurze Zeit später unterschrieb die Band einen Vertrag bei Punishment 18 Records und

im April 2011 wurde das Debut "UNLEASH THE VIOLENCE" unter v. g. Label veröffentlicht.

Auf jeden fall eine der besten Platte die ich mir vergangenes Jahr zugelegt habe. 
Wie ich finde ein perfekter Mix aus Exodus, Pantera, Metallica... Halt alles was kracht aus den 80s und 90s.

Lost Society - Fast Loud Death 4,9/5

Through several media the band Lost Society was on everyone's lips the last past weeks. Seems like Nuclear Blast has obviously done a great job. :) And not only there. Thanks again for letting me freak out one day before its official release here in germany. ;)

Lost Society is a new Thrash Metal combo from Finland. They was formed in 2010 by Samy Elbanna at the age of just 14. Their first 3-song Demo was made in August of 2011. With this in the back they apply at the worldwide talent compition "Global Battle of the Bands". Although the missing of the registration deadline cannot stop these maniax and they won the local battle. So tireless live playing pays off precisley. 

And now the time has come for worlds infecting by releasing their Debut Loud Fast Death in 2013.

So my thoughts about this record, oh man that's really hard. Where should I start. I start with the cover. The artwork comes from the MAN in cover artwork himself Mr. Ed Repka and it looks totally awesome in 12". But why 12" when you can have it in A2?! Yeah, you get this great art in a poster format with the vinyl. Have I say before that I love vinyls? ;) In my opinion the cover reflects perfectly what you can expect from the inside. The finest Thrash Metal you could find nowaday. Best Art for best bands! As simply as that.

The vinyl version comes as a 12" Gatefold Edition includes 13 tracks and 2 Bonus tracks so you get a lot of metal for your money. And not only metal, as I said before you get one of the best new Thrash Metal songs I heard for a long time. I mean songs like "Piss out my ass" or "Bitch, out' my way" doesn't need more further declarations right?! :)) The vinyl I got is a strictly limited color/ clear vinyl and was only pressed to 150 copies worldwide.I think they are all sold out already but if you're a vinyl fan like myself is one, you can order the normal black vinyl directely through the Nuclear Blast Shop here. So go and get your copy soon and freak out like I did to this new masterpiece! :)))

Revocation - Chaos of Forms 9,5/10

Revocation is a Death/Thrash performance from Boston Massachusetts. The band was formed in 2000 by guitarist/singer David, bassist Anthony, drummer Phil and went by the name Cryptic Warning. In 2006 they changed the name into Revocation.

Cryptic Warning was mainly influenced by bands like Guns N Roses and Metallica. Now Revocation plays more extreme metal, reminds me on Exodus, Shadows Fall. Playful like Annihilatior, Opeth or Threat Signal and that's what made the band more interesting than other bands in this genre for me. These guys really kicks ass and I don't know why I realised this band so late. Everyone knows exactely how to use his instrument. Dudes check the tracks below and you will see what I mean. Inhale this big fat motherfukin' sound!! The future is wide wide open for this band and they overrun you and breaking all your goddamn bones. Take a look on their facebook page, give 'em a like and thrash to this beast of a record!!

Two more killer bands you definitely have to check out!

Kraptor from Venezuela is a thrash metal band founded in 2007 by vocalist and guitarist Philip "Phill" Alvarez and drummer Jessy Jaimes in the San Cristobal city.

Their first album came out in February 2011, entitled: "FUCKING LIAR", this EP containing six songs with varied lyrics, also possessing a raw and devastating sound.

In 2012 kraptor announces the release of its new and first full-length album which is titled "NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD" is also released under the label "CADAVER PRODUCTIONS" The album has the participation of Pedro Poney, lead singer from one of the most recognized bands in the thrash metal scene of the world from our days: VIOLATOR. Also the special participation from one of the most representative and forceful voices of the new wave in the Bay Area: Rick Rangel from FUELED BY FIRE. The album was made with the same team that participated in the earlier work: Carlos Newball as sound engineer and producer and Geronimo Ballesteros in the design and artwork on the disc.

An Introduce in Violence w/ ETECC, Electirc Hellride, MadMaze, Impactor

ETECC from Wolfsburg Germany delivered us a big fat Modern-Thrash record called Volition in 2012. Mainly influenced by bands like Pantera, Lamb of God, Metallica. ETECC was formed in 2009 by the three band members Souhaieb, Timo and Marc. If you like really ass kickin riffs paired with pounding drums you definitely gonna check this band out!





Electric Hellride!!! I mean the name speaks for itself. These four guys from Kopenhagen Denmark play on their album Hate.Control.Manipulate one Groove-Thrash riff after another, produced by Jacob Bredahl (Hatesphere). So you know what you can expect... A really fat sounding killer of a record.





For Classic Revival Thrash Fans I like to introduce Italy Powerhouse MadMaze. They will kill you by the first tones. Words can't describe so go and check these fux out!!

Impactor is an old school sounding Thrash Metal combo from Germany which started back in 2005 and was comleted in 2008. They came up with their 2nd album Arise in Decay in sping of 2012. Straight in your face Thrash Metal with a classic dry sound. If you like 80's Thrash from Kreator, Sodom you have to give 'em a listen.

Dust Bolt - Violent Demolition

Long time ago I've read something over a band named Dust Bolt in a local magazine. But now I've only purchased their debut and I speak to myself "Why the hell I waited so long?"

These guys from Germany know how to Thrash the fuck out of you!! With their Debut Violent Demolition which was released in 2012 via Napalm Records, these four guys from Bavaria were one of the best upcoming revival thrash bands in my opinion for some time. And I say this not only because they're my fellow countrymen. ;)

The whole package is just perfect. Insane Cover Artwork by A. Bouzikov and very well produced Thrash Metal music.

Dust Bolt beat on your debut through 9 super tight Thrash hymns. And as a special goody, there is no one lower than Derrick Green of Sepultura on the last dance of the record. You won't find more Thrash anywhere else at this point!!

To me it's a 10/10 and I've been only through Side A! ;)

Haiduk - Spellbook 9,5/10

Haiduk is a Death/Thrash Metal Band from Calgary Alberta CANADA and a project of a mastermind named Luka Milojica which in 2010 came into the world by their first Demo "plagueswept".

On 18th July 2012 Spellbook (first full-length) was born.
The cool thing about this record besides the fenomenal sounding is the fact, that the band include only one Member - Luka Milojica. You can't believe it when you hear these polished Death/Thrash Songs. All songs were written by him. Even the instruments (guitars, bass, vocals, drum programming).

The Album was recorded at Leper Studios in Calgary Alberta Canada. Mixing & Mastering by Robert Kukla.

10 blasting tracks which reflects perfectly the dark and aggressive sound of this band. For me definitely one of the best Death/Thrash band in the last few years. Bands like Skeletonwitch, Avenger of Blood can take a leaf from this. And again, this is only a one man show!! That's incredible! I think the best words for describing this album was delivered by Haiduk itself; a black-magic conjuring of fast guitars and powerful riff attacks summoning an atmosphere of true darkness. This is true literally the nail on the head.

Personally my faves were Lich, Forcefield & Hex. For me a perfect statement where the album leads you.
